Peace United Methodist Church

The purpose of the UMW is to “. . . know God and to
experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus
Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and
to expand concepts of mission through participation in
the global ministries of the church. . . . (to) work in the
local unit, in the community, across the nation, and
around the world.

Each member is asked to make the following pledge:

I pledge My prayers, that I may experience growth and
renewal in my relationship to God and to my sisters and
brothers;

My time, that I may respond to human need through
study, action and reflection;

My gifts through United Methodist Women,  that I may
share in the global ministries of the church.

Let’s Get Together!
This is the UMW theme for 2011, and the board of the
United Methodist Women at Peace United Methodist
Church, would like to welcome back, and invite all active
members, those not so active, and any new church
members, to come out and share your visions of God’s
caring people, by attending the monthly UMW meetings on
the second Wednesday of each month. During each
meeting we have: devotions; business; a brief program,
which often includes a sharing time; a service donation;
and finally refreshments.  Each meeting starts at 7:00 p.m.
on the second Wednesday, and lasts about an hour
and a half.  This is a terrific opportunity to get to know the
other women of the church, and learn what the UMW is
involved in, not only at a church level, but in our
community, nation, and world.  We are currently meeting
in classroom 4 on the Sunday School wing, but if we have
a larger group, we can move to the sanctuary.  We know
many of you are busy with family and other activities, but
we hope you can come join us for meetings, or possibly
for the other opportunities we have for service and
fellowship on other days and times. This Wednesday
evening, our program will be: “What Gift Shall I Bring.”
We are asking each participant to bring either 3 large
potatoes, carrots, or other root vegetables to be donated
to the Food Pantry, and if you have an article or idea
about a local service opportunity, we will have a time for
sharing that with the group.

We will be utilizing the UMW Bulletin Board in Burgess
Hall to post mission activity and to provide a calendar of
upcoming events.  (Check out the information on what
UMW does Globally, Nationally, and Locally.)  We also
hope to keep everyone informed through the newsletter,
weekly church bulletins, e-mails, phone calls, and/or
personal invitations.
